Our Story
Her Set Her Sound (HSHS) began from an Arkansas Soul article written by founder & promoter, Rob Jordan, who discovered the top non-white gender-diverse DJs in Northwest Arkansas were missing support and intentionally-crafted spaces to be heard and show off their skills in and to our community. Seeing the need to produce a platform that amplifies and advocates for her on and off the stage, Jordan crafted the first music fest in NWA designed to celebrate and center rising, cultural women and non-binary DJs in the region in 2021.
Now a creative-entertainment company, one of our priorities is to bridge connections for trailblazers and innovative creatives of culture, especially Black women, women of the global majority, nonconforming and queer talent, as well as people who support and invest in these humans in music, culture, and entertainment. We especially strive to nurture stages and spaces that support the wellness of both vulnerable and resilient talent with vulvas. The goal is to see our people and allies thrive, worry-free, around people who love our culture and honor our bodies. We encourage folks connected to our communities to set the trends, the standards and to move to each's own rhythm!
Ultimately, we hope to advance ecosystems and economies through fracturing barriers existing within cultural industries.
